I was born in New Boston, Texas, lived in Boerne, and Dallas Texas where I spent my formative years preparing for a career in broadcasting that I never knew would come. Preparation included, but not limited to stints at various colleges throughout Northeast Texas. Spent about seven years in college, decided against a medical degree and just stopped going.
I spent fifteen years doing The Car Show with David and Ken. I was relieved of the weekly pressure of coming up with genius show content for three years. I spent the time wisely planning for our highly anticipated return to the airways by going to work for David. The car business proved to be entirely too much work so I decided to return to talking about it instead. Talking about it is much easier.
David Irwin, Managing Partner, Tyler Ford.
Born in Henderson, raised in Fort Worth and Houston, college at Stephen F Austin in Nacogdoches. I got into the car business after getting out of the Army and college in 1989 and have been with it in one capacity or another ever since. I have done everything from a salesperson, mechanic, body man, service writer, parts counter, F&I Director, Sales Manager, Service Manager, General Sales Manager, General Manager and Dealer Principal. You name it, if it’s a job description within a dealership, I’ve probably done it. I started with Tyler Ford in August of 1998 back when it was Fairway and have been the Managing Partner/Dealer Principal since January 2003.
Cars are my hobby as well as my career. I’m an avid collector and builder of classic cars. I have built several cars from the ground up and bought and sold classic vehicles through auctions like Mecum and Barrett Jackson. I also road raced competitively with SCCA and NASA in several different car classes and still hold a current Competition License for all classes of NASA.
